Exzellent Book in Order to care my horses hoof, even if i am not a Specialist

This will take me some time to get through it all, very detailed with tons of information. I think anyone one who wants to learn more about the hoof will greatly benefit from reading this. I really love the nutrition aspect of the book as well.

Undiagnosed lameness for years, regardless of season. Critical lameness this past winter and X-rays reveal the worst news. Vet doesn't speak. She doesn't have to. She knows from my tears that I'll have to consider WHEN to put my best mate to sleep in the coming year when the pain gets too much for him to bear any longer. And then I found your site. I bought this book. A glimmer of hope. I read this book. OMG!!! My workmates think I'm crazy defying the vets and farriers and attempting to understand such a massive textbook to heal my horse on my own. But I'm not just healing him; I've identified that my other horse who shows no signs of lameness is also having a laminitic episode as well. AND I now know from his hoof pathology WHY his former owner gave him up for free after yet another unexplained rearing episode at a showjumping day after doing round after round after round. Aside from that, Pete confirms what I've suspected for years, that farriers are taking too much off the soles, frogs and feet in general which always left my horse lame after each trim, and led me to try to do his feet myself. A daunting task when you don't really understand what you're doing and yet you're still doing better than all the previous 'professional' paid trimmers. This book is pricey but if you've got a horse that led you to find this book then every single cent is absolutely 100% worth it. I promise you. And it only took one week to arrive in country Western Australia from the US. Our local mail doesn't even travel that fast!

We can no longer get this book in the UK so I had to order it direct which cost more in postage but it arrived within a week which was fantastic. What I really like about this book is that I am not academic but found it really easy to read and understand despite it being a good source of info for vets and farriers - please don't let that put you off. It was full of pictures and diagrams which helps if you are a visual person. Overall has everything I need and more because it leads you to further reading and research. Not a cheap book but well worth every penny - if in doubt just buy it you won't be disappointed.

Being the owner of a horse with hoof trouble, I have read a lot of books about hooves and hoof care, but this stands head and shoulders above everything else. A comprehensive textbook with excellent illustrations, well organized and covers every imaginable aspect in detail. Can be warmly recommended for everybody with a serious interest for the horse´s health and hooves. But not a light read to skip over, should be studied like a textbook.

I own and train horses and educate my customers as much as they will let me. I trim my horses and some of my customers horses."Care and Rehabilitation of the Equine Foot",has been invaluable towards those ends. Every equine enthusiast, professional, or owner should study this material. I am 100% happy with my purchase. I also bought "Under The Horse" dvd series. It is packed with information for "everyone" and the live trimming brings it all into focus.

I take the book with me when we travel, and read and study whenever I can. I re-read sections, and look things up constantly. This book, along with the DVD series, has made me smarter.... and, as with all the new learning I acquire, helps me realize that the day I think I know it all, is the day I am in big trouble! When I look at my horses' feet now to trim, I actually really know what I am looking at.... Our horses' feet are good -- we have been doing natural hoof care for years, but now we see things we didn't see before, and their feet are getting even better. I thank you, and my horses thank you.

Purchased this book to help me to help my transitioning to barefoot horse as he isnt straight forward and we have had many problems. It should have been the first book i brought not one of the last as it is an EXCELLENT book!!! Plenty of pictures and well explained through out. WELL worth the money.

This book explains in in a detailed way all relevant aspects of the hoof and hoofcare. Most importantly, recent research data put many of the hoofcare recommendations into new perspective. This book should become the reference manual of hoof care practitioner training!
