Under the Horse

This series has helped me tremendously in taking care of my horses. I now understand, as well as I am learning every day from my horses in how they move and wear their hooves, diet, environment, and their habits, to help me figure out what I need to do to be a better horse owner and take better care of them to grow better hooves, and what not to do as well. The video set has helped me see the whole picture! There was so much I could put to practice right away I was delayed in writing this review. Thanks a lot Mr. Ramey for sharing your knowledge!

This DVD set provides a level of understanding that will help every horse owner meet their obligation to care for their horse appropriately. So many horse owners I know blindly rely on a local farrier to take care of their horses hooves. The result is an apparent need for steel shoes created by gradual rotation of the hoof capsule relative to P3 due to over trimming and lack of a barefoot life style. In this DVD set, Pete explains the internal structures of the hoof, how to grow a well connected hoof, how to recognizes a disconnected hoof and hoof capsule rotation, how to set the hoof up to self maintain as much as possible for the terrain the horse lives in, how to nourish, trim and protect the hoof to give your horse the best hoof possible. For those of us who trim our horses hooves, this DVD set provides sufficient detailed information to allow us to do so correctly. Our horses give us so many gifts every day we own them. We owe them the best care we can give them, starting with healthy, pain free hooves.

The most comprehensive and valuable knowledge concerning horse's hooves I have ever seen. It has been a great help to understand the mechanism of the horse's hoof.

Finally some long-overdue, original thought on hooves and shoeing, lucid explanations of hoof anatomy and problems, and well-founded, common-sense treatment options for our most baffling (and self-inflicted) hoof problems!! Ramey's classroom and field work videos represent a stunning and unexpected paradigm shift and his success speaks for itself. Thankfully, the end of suffering for my horses and many other horses is in sight.

I have finished the whole DVD series and plan to go over it all again. Peter Ramey has packed this DVD series to the brim full amazing, logical information about hoof care in the 21st century. Peter Ramey presents his work objectively and backs up his claims with credible evidence. It's always nice to have someone come along and break through the barriers of culture and tradition which are so heavily embedded in the equine industry. I look forward to using the Ramey method on my own horses and my clients.

Thank you Pete and Ivy for your selflessness in bringing us these DVDs. I have your book already but there were things I still didn't quite understand or perhaps had skipped over. Your dvds filled all those gaps but perhaps even more important, was that as an owner of a chronic laminitis sufferer who also foundered this year with rotated and sinking P3's, Pete forced the issue of my negligence down my throat so that I couldn't put my head in the sand when rehabilitation and diet changes became too much for me to deal with. I only wish he and Ivy would come to Australia as I have one of those horses with the oddest and most concerning foot pathologies which I desperately need help with. If you're thinking about getting these DVDs though, I would strongly recommend that you start with Pete's book first. The book explains the hoof more clearly with all the different pathologies of what can go wrong and how to treat, as well as having all the contributing authors to shed even more light on the hoof and the horse as a whole. I've just purchased In The Trenches because I cannot get enough of Pete's teachings. It's like putting a brand new computer chip in your head. You'll never look at horses and their feet the same way again!

I have enjoyed every minute of watching this series of DVDs. It is amazing just how much more I have learned about Hoofcare. I would recommend these to anybody!!!

I'm a newbie to barefoot hoof care and found this DVD set a wonderful starting point. Even if you are experienced in barefoot, this would be a great buy. It covers a lot of information! Thanks for making it!

Thank you Pete and Ivy for making this dvd for all horse owners! I had a barefoot trimmer for my horses and she moved away so I've been struggling to maintain my horses feet with a proper trim. There is so much valuable information presented in an easy to understand manner in this set that I feel confident about trimming without doing harm. Keep up the good work! Debbie
